In fact, we had already finished recording all the music but we couldn't finish the song without the lyrics. I knew the title was going to be 'Grinding Wheel', and that it had something to do with the music business..."

We spent a lot of time talking and arguing about it, and eventually we decided the song was really about those whiny rock stars who become successful and then bitch about it-- you know the kind of person I'm talking about, right? And how frustrating that is for those of us who are stuck in lousy jobs and struggle just to make any music at all..."
